Outlander: Blood Of My Blood is set to arrive on MGM+ sooner than anticipated, with the streaming service also unveiling first-look images.

The concluding instalment of Jamie (portrayed by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser's (Caitriona Balfe) romantic saga is slated for release later this year with the eighth series, a poignant moment for fans of the beloved book-turned-TV drama.
However, in May 2022, it was revealed that a prequel, Outlander: Blood Of My Blood, chronicling the love stories of both Jamie's and Claire's parents, was in the pipeline.
MGM+ has been gradually releasing details, but now, not only a release date but also teaser images have been shared ahead of its much-anticipated premiere.
Promising to transport viewers from the "war-ravaged battlegrounds of World War One to the expansive Highlands of 18th Century Scotland", this prequel pledges "two new love stories brimming with loyalty, passion and desire".

The countdown is on for the standalone romantic prequel, as Outlander: Blood Of My Blood is set to premiere on Saturday, August 9, on MGM+.
The series, expected to comprise 10 episodes, will be available for weekly streaming on Saturdays on MGM+.
Assuming there are no breaks between episodes, the grand finale of Outlander: Blood Of My Blood could potentially air on Saturday, October 11.
Outlander: Blood Of My Blood cast
The roles of Claire's parents, Julia and Henry, will be played by Hermione Corfield from We Hunt Together and Jeremy Irvine, known for his roles in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and War Horse.
Jamie Fraser's parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, will be portrayed by Jamie Roy from Condor's Nest and Harriet Slater from Belgravia: The Next Chapter.

Joining these key characters will be Tony Curran from Your Honor as Simon Fraser, Seamus McLean Ross from Rebus as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford from Ackley Bridge as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser and Conor MacNeill from BBC Two's Industry as Ned Gowan.

The Outlander prequel, inspired by both the TV show and the original book series by Diana Gabaldon, explores the early 20th Century in England and the 18th Century in Scotland.
Blood Of My Blood will delve into the romantic tales of Jamie's parents, Brian and Ellen, who must navigate clan politics, while Claire's parents, Henry and Julia, maintain a long-distance relationship due to the war.
As fans of the Outlander universe are already aware, Claire's parents tragically perished in a car accident when she was just five years old, adding an extra layer of poignancy to their story.

Matthew B Roberts, the executive producer and showrunner of the original series, has penned and produced Outlander: Blood Of My Blood, with Gabaldon returning in her role as a consulting producer.
